Music Staff

Music and Arts Ministry Staff

The Music Ministries at Littleton United Methodist Church are supported by a full-time Director of Music & Fine Arts, a part-time organist/accompanist, and a number of volunteer directors, accompanists, and administrators.

The Fine Arts Series is supported by a Director, the Fine Arts Series coordinator and a host of volunteers at each event.


Director of Music & Fine Arts

Dr. David Kates has been at LUMC since 1991. In addition to directing the music program and Fine Arts Series, he has had appointments to choral faculties of both the University of Colorado at Boulder and Colorado Christian University. He holds degrees from LSU, Sam Houston State University and CU.


Church Organist

Kathy Forsberg has been at LUMC since 1984. Prior to holding this position, she was organist at Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton, NJ. She received a music degree from Indiana University. In addition, Kathy has an active studio of piano students.


Children's Choir Director

Theresa Derr has been leading elementary-age choirs at LUMC since 1996. Theresa holds degrees in Vocal Performance from North Park University and University of North Texas, and currently is the Music Specialist at Centennial Academy in Littleton. Theresa also teaches private voice and sings in Denver's KANTOREI.


Handbell Director

Terri Godby came to LUMC in 2015 after having served at Heritage UMC for over 20 years. She brings years of experience to our choirs, having been active in handbell ringing since 1972. She directs both youth and adult bell ensembles.


Music Administrator

Cathy Flanders is a stay-at-home mom to a 3rd grader and a 7th grader. She and her family have been at LUMC for ten years and she has been a part of the Chancel Choir for five years.


Fine Arts Series Coordinator

Dez Guerrie has served as Fine Arts Series Coordinator since 2011, supervising all aspects of development, marketing and hospitality. She is herself an artist, and has a home staging company with her husband, Vince.


Carol Choir Director

Helen Gillikin has been at LUMC since 1888. She is sings in Chancel Choir, acts with the Encore Players, rings in the bell choir, and is active in Sunday School and UMW. Helen has been directing the Carol Choir for nearly 20 years.
