We believe we are stronger when we gather together, as individuals are gathered into a church or, this year, as churches are gathered together into circuits.” This is a word from our new District Superintendent Tenzelo Thong. This year, our annual church conference will be an experience of coming together as a group of churches to celebrate our collective witness and our mutual connection through the United Methodist Church. While we will tend to a minimal amount of business, our focus will be on fellowship, worship and service.
The business required at this event is to affirm the nominated lay leadership, the membership changes of the past year, and the compensation for our clergy. This business will be presented by the Staff-Parish Relations Committee, the Finance Committee, the Lay Leadership Committee and our Administrative Assistant and will be modified as necessary and affirmed by the Administrative Council on November 28th. The Charge Conference will affirm these decisions. This advance work will allow our Circuit Charge Conference to focus on fellowship, service, and worship.
Fellowship will happen between the members of the churches in our circuit: St. Andrew, St. Luke’s, Heritage, Hope, and Littleton. Worship will feature a video welcome by our Bishop and a message from our District Superintendent. Service will be in our support of the United Methodist Committee on Relief. You are invited to bring with you supplies for Cleaning Kits. Cleaning Kits help people with the overwhelming task of cleaning up after a flood or hurricane. Supplies include: Liquid laundry detergent, household cleaner, dish soap, air freshener, insect repellant spray, scrub brush, cleaning wipes, sponges, scouring pads, clothespins and line, trash bags, dust masks, kitchen gloves, work gloves and bucket. (Specific descriptions can be found at: www.umcor.org/umcor/relief-supplies/reliefsupply-kits/cleaning).
You are all invited to come and celebrate the ministry that occurs in our neighborhood and in our world in the name of Christ through the United Methodist Church.
